Hungary offers a residence permit for qualifying investors through the Guest Investor program. This is a residence-by-investment route, not direct citizenship. After maintaining residence for the required period, you may apply for permanent residence and eventually naturalization. The program is administered by the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (OIF).

Guest Investor Residence Permit through OIF. Applicants must demonstrate a qualifying investment in Hungary, which may include real estate, government bonds, or investment in a Hungarian-registered business entity, subject to current program rules.

• Valid passport with at least 6 months validity • Proof of qualifying investment in Hungary • Clean criminal background check (apostilled) • Health insurance valid in Hungary • Proof of accommodation in Hungary • Financial means to support yourself and dependents

Initial residence permit processing: 2–4 months. Guest Investor permits are typically issued for up to 10 years. Eligibility for permanent residence: after 3 years of continuous legal residence. Eligibility for naturalization: after 8 years of residence (with possible reductions for specific circumstances).
